Slimline Card Blog Hop

Welcome to our Slimline Card Blog Hop!

Have you tried making a slimline card?  If you haven't I hope you will be inspired to try creating some after you check out all of the amazing cards we have created for this blog hop.

If you arrived here from Brandi R - crzy4scrapbooking, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda Everitt - If You Bling It has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

There are about 13 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their slimline card creations during this blog hop.

To start my creative process I pulled out a bunch of my newer stamp sets that I hadn't really played with yet.   I also grabbed the Hillside Cottage paper collection and some slimline card bases.  Then I started playing around, here are the cards I came up with for today.

These slimline cards measure 3.5" x 8.5", I used the Slimline card bases.  The paper is from the Hillside Cottage collection and measures 3.5" x 8.5", I inked the edges of it with my Blue Belle ink pad.  The flowers & leaves are from the Mothers Are the Best stamp set (this set is only available until May 31st.), I stamped the bases of these flowers in 1st & 2nd generation Blue Belle and Desert Rose ink.  The outline of the flowers was done in Blue Belle and Sapphire ink.  The base of the leaves are Avocado and the outline is New England Ivy ink.  I stamped them on White Daisy and then fussy cut them out.  I added clear shimmer brush to the flowers, which doesn't show in the photos and I added a clear sparkle to the center of each of the flowers.

I used the Scalloped Circle thin cut and then stamped the sentiments with Intense Black ink.  The sentiments are both from the Friendship is a Blessing stamp set.  (It retires on May 31st as well.)  I just love this set.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and I would love to hear what you think of them.

Canadian Blog Hop - May/June Catalog

We are so glad to have you join us today for the Canadian Blog Hop. Today we are featuring the new products that you can find in the the May/June Catalog. You can view this catalog here.

This is a circular hop so you can make your way around. You should have arrived here from Colleen's Blog. If you get lost along the way or would like to start at the beginning you can find the list on Michelle's Blog.

I decided to create with the new Glad You're a Grad stamp set as I needed to create grad cards for the graduates from our church.

We have 4 grads this year from 2 high schools.  So, I decided to create cards using the school colours.
I finished the cards for the 1 school and here they are.

I distress ripped the strips of Sapphire & Canary cardstock using my embossing stylus & paper trimmer track.  I did a video today showing how to do this HERE.  This was a technique that I learned at album retreat  (there are still a few album retreat bundles available) this past week and it is such a fun way to add texture to a layout or card.

I stamped the graduates with Intense Black ink on White Daisy cardstock and matted it with Black.  I coloured the images with Bluebird & Sapphire shimmer brush, Citrus, Fair Skin, Ice Grey & True Black markers.  I embellished this card with the clear sparkles.

I also added some Onyx Pearls & Diamond Stickles.  I love the look of the doodled line added with the journaling pen.  Sentiments stamped in Sapphire ink.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and I would love to hear what you think of them.

Next up on the Blog Hop is Sabrina's Blog, so head on over and check out what she has created.

Thanks for joining us today and I hope you can join us again on July 20th for the next Canadian Blog Hop.

If you don't have a Maker, I would be more than happy to help you with all your scrappy needs.
Blessings, Kim

May/June New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to our May & June Catalog New Product Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the special products in the May/June Catalog. You can view the Catalog HERE.  These products are available only until the end of June.

If you arrived here from Becca Whitham's Blog, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda's Blog has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

There are about 17 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using products from the new May/June catalog and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

Today, I am sharing a layout I created using the Hillside Cottage Scrapbooking Workshop Kit.

I plan to add my journaling around the edges of the stacked squares on the right page. This photo is from almost 10 years ago, it is so nice to be getting this memories & stories documented.

I changed it up a little in that switched the amount & size of the photos on the right page.  I also swapped out the sticker that was supposed to be under the photos on the right page with the sentiment, "So Blessed"  from the Hillside Cottage Cardmaking stamp & thin cut set.  I stamped it in Blue Belle ink and dovetailed it.  The black edges was done with the True Black marker.

I am in love with these wooden/acrylic Hillside Cottage shapes, they are so fun to mix and match.  I also love that we carry Liquid pearls as they are such an nice accent, this is the Onyx Pearl.
LOL, the looks on their faces.  It was really bright and the sun was hurting their eyes.  That is Mount Rushmore in the distance, this was a lookout before we got there.

Always, remember that you can take a kit and change it up.  I am in the process of deciding how I want to change up the other layouts in this workshop to suit my stories & photos.  I think I am going to use parts of it to tell the story of my Dutch heritage and some of my memories of those things.  I am in the mulling through what I want to do and how I want to tell those stories.  As I write this more memories are popping into my head of visits to my grandparent's home.  They have both passed on now but I have many fond & special memories that I want to document & capture for my kids & grandkids.  That is why I love scrapbooking.

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I would love to hear what you think of it.

National Scrapbooking Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our National Scrapbooking Month Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the special products in the National Scrapbooking Month: You Are Enough Collection.  These products are available only until the end of June and while supplies last.  If you are looking for a deal check out the bundles as they are 20-30% off.

There are about 14 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using this National Scrapbooking Month: You are Enough collection and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

I decided to create another layout using photos of my daughter that I took over 11 years ago when she was a baby.  I posed her with flowers from a bouquet that I got at her baby shower.  This collection was perfect for documenting this.

I just grabbed a bunch of scraps out of my pile from some other workshops that I have been working on using this paper collection.  The only thing I needed to cut today was the strips of paper for the words and die cut the butterflies.  I loved being able to just layer some scraps behind the photo - this is a great way to use up some of your bits of leftover paper.

I know it is hard to see but I added splatter to the white paper with shimmer brushes, looks better in person.  I used the Blue Belle shimmer brush along the edges of the strips with the words and they are popped up on thin foam tape.  I love all the different butterfly elements available in this collection.  I would love to know which butterfly element is your favorite?

This is such a powerful message and I want my daughter to always remember it.

This whole collection has this theme - You are Enough.  It is a message that we all need to take to heart and remember.

I am especially reminded of it as my community is being hit harder with the pandemic than it has up to this point.  Our schools all switched to remote learning today and we are all wrapping our heads around that again.  We have been very fortunate to have had low case counts to this point and all linked to travel outside of the territory up to the current situation.  I need to remember that I am strong.

Here is the whole You Are Enough Collection.

Supplies Used:

- White Daisy cardstock
- Peach ink
- Sangria ink
- Blue Belle shimmer brush
- Mint shimmer brush
- Gold shimmer brush
- Sugarplum shimmer brush (retired)

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I would love to hear what you think of it.

May SOTM - Flowers for You Blog Hop

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the May SOTM, called Flowers for You it is a set of 14 stamps.

This month we have around 17 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

It is National Scrapbooking Day today and so while I am listening to Jill cut paper on the CTMH Facebook page I created this layout using the SOTM.  I am in love with this set.

I used a combination of the new Hillside Cottage paper and the new Mix-In collection of paper.  I also used White Daisy and Flamingo cardstock.

I stamped using VersaMark ink and the gold embossing powder.  I added the you inspire me stamp into my journaling using Archival Black ink.  This is a fun thing to do.

I added a little stenciling with the Abandoned Coral distress ink.  I also used this ink on the larger photo mat.  The white photo mat is using the Floral Lace embossing folder.

These are the layered butterflies and I have added the same ink to them in a variety of ways as well as the gold shimmer brush to the white one.  I absolutely love these thin cuts.

The flower is created with the 3-D flower thin cuts, I used the smallest 2 and added the bold bitty beads to the middle.

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I would love to hear what you think of it.

Now "Hop" on over to Melissa's Blog to see what she has created! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas!  I love, love, love these kits and am so excited to create other artwork with them.  For today I chose to use the exclusive stamp set from the Sending You Hugs Cardmaking Workshop Kit

I decided to try my hand at creating a Bendy card for the first time after watching a tutorial Gail Gross did.

I love how it turned out and it is so easy to create.

I just love this cute Koala and the thoughtful look on her face.  The background paper is from the Eat Play Love paper collection.  Sentiment is stamped in Archival Black ink and the edges of the card & fern paper are inked in Fern ink.

I stamped her in Intense Black ink and coloured her using the True Black, Coral, Light Green,  Pale Pink and  Brown Grey Tri-Blend markers.  I put thin 3-D foam tape under just her arms & chin.

I scored the middle of the card so it can lay flat to mail but you can bend it to stand up.  Look at all that dimension.  The white cardstock base is 5.5" x 4.25", pattern paper is 5.25" x 4", black cardstock is 6" x 1"(scored at 0.25" on each end.), and fern cardstock is 5.5" x 0.75".

I hope you enjoyed this card and I would love to hear what you think of it.

Virtual Card Buffets

 Welcome,

I am so excited to tell you about a new creative opportunity that I want to invite you to join me in.  It is perfect for all ages and doesn't require a lot of stuff!  It is perfect for throwing in your bag to work on while camping, on your break at work, or taking to a crop.  It is also great to do with your kids or a friend.

Well, I am launching my new Virtual Card Buffets and the first one will be happening on May 3rd at 7pm LIVE on my Facebook page.

Some of the cards for the card buffet.

I am sure you have some questions and I want to answer them for you.

What is a Card Buffet?

It is like a buffet but with card kits, you get to decide what you want on your "plate".  Like a buffet everything is ready to dish up.

What is included?

You will get 10 card kits.  Each card kit includes the card base, envelope, cut pieces, thin cuts, cricut cuts and stamped images.

How does it work?

Pre-register beforehand, I only have 10 spots per buffet (otherwise it would go all night).  The virtual card buffet will happen live on Facebook.  You need to be watching the Facebook Live to select your kits.  I will show the selection of kits and any details you need to know about that kit.  If you want that kit, simply comment with the number of that kit and it will be added to your pile.  Be fast as kits are limited and some may be limited to 1 per person.  The order in which the comments come in on my end will determine who the kits go to.  Please do not call out kit numbers before I show the kit.

How much does it cost?

$40 and this includes shipping in Canada.  Sorry, but this is only open for Canadians.

Is shipping included?

Yes, in Canada

What age is this for?

These kits are so fast and easy to put together that they are perfect for any age.

What will I need to provide?

The bling you see on the cards is not included in the kits.  Use from your stash or you can  get some at http://kimloewen.closetomyheart.ca  You will also need adhesives like tape runner/foam tape, etc and stuff to color you images if you want them coloured.

How will I know how to put my kits together?

Each kit has a number and it will come in your kit.  You can view all the kits in my Facebook Card Buffet albums.  Simply pull up the photo and use it to see how to put together the kit.

Can I get extra kits?

Yes, if you would like more than 10 kits, additional kits are $3 each.

What type of cards will be in the Buffet?

As you can see there are a wide range of different types of cards.  I am continually adding card kits and will be adding them to the Facebook album as I do.  There are some special things going to be added soon.  Occasionally there may be other things in the buffet other than just cards.  I am always open to ideas for types of cards to add to the buffet.

How do I Sign - up or Register?

Contact me at scrappinkimberly@gmail.com to sign up or send me a message.  Then I will let you know if I have a spot still for you and how you can pay.

What if I would like to have a private Card Buffet with my friends?

Contact me and we can set up a date & time to make that happen.  I would love to talk to you about this, if that is something that interests you.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me.  I hope you can join me for a serving or more of cards.  LOL.

Dates so far are May 3rd and June 7th at 7pm.

Blessings, Kim
