Technique Hop - "Let's Get Geometrical"

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!

This month there are about 13 of us highlighting the “Let's Get Geometrical” Techniques!  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you get lost along the way Melissa has a complete list of the hop participants.

If you are coming from Cat's Blog, you are on the right track!

Today, I have a scrapbook layout to share with you. It is my take on a pattern from the Make It From Your Heart Vol.5.

I decided dive into my scraps and to incorporate a few different geometrical shapes into my project.  Can you spot them?

Do you recognize any of the people in this layout?  These photos are over 20 years old.  LOL.

I cut 1/2" x 1.5" strips of Sawyer Paper & the coordinating colours of cardstock.  I inked the edges of all of them with my Harbour ink pad.

I used my Grape ink pad and a plastic bag to smoosh ink on the background.  The flowers are cut using the Layered Flowers Thin Cut set.

How many shapes have you found yet?  There are more circles hidden on the photo mats as I embossed them with the Kaleidoscope embossing folder and then ran my Grape ink pad over the white paper.

I love this layered title that was cut using the Sawyer Digital Art Collection.  It was so easy to put together.

Of course I had to break out the clear shimmer brush and add it to the title & the centers of the flowers.

We got squares, triangles, rectangles and circles all in this layout.

I still need to add the journaling to this special layout but it is so nice to have this memory from so long ago documented.  I am so blessed to have known and been friends with these 2 sisters for over 30 years now.

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto Haley's Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!  If are in Canada and don't have a Maker, I would love to help you.

Slimline Card Blog Hop

Welcome to our Slimline Card Blog Hop!

Have you tried making a slimline card?  If you haven't I hope you will be inspired to try creating some after you check out all of the amazing cards we have created for this blog hop.

If you arrived here from Brandi R - crzy4scrapbooking, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda Everitt - If You Bling It has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

There are about 13 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their slimline card creations during this blog hop.

To start my creative process I pulled out a bunch of my newer stamp sets that I hadn't really played with yet.   I also grabbed the Hillside Cottage paper collection and some slimline card bases.  Then I started playing around, here are the cards I came up with for today.

These slimline cards measure 3.5" x 8.5", I used the Slimline card bases.  The paper is from the Hillside Cottage collection and measures 3.5" x 8.5", I inked the edges of it with my Blue Belle ink pad.  The flowers & leaves are from the Mothers Are the Best stamp set (this set is only available until May 31st.), I stamped the bases of these flowers in 1st & 2nd generation Blue Belle and Desert Rose ink.  The outline of the flowers was done in Blue Belle and Sapphire ink.  The base of the leaves are Avocado and the outline is New England Ivy ink.  I stamped them on White Daisy and then fussy cut them out.  I added clear shimmer brush to the flowers, which doesn't show in the photos and I added a clear sparkle to the center of each of the flowers.

I used the Scalloped Circle thin cut and then stamped the sentiments with Intense Black ink.  The sentiments are both from the Friendship is a Blessing stamp set.  (It retires on May 31st as well.)  I just love this set.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and I would love to hear what you think of them.

Now "Hop" on over to see what Miss. Carrie has created! Canadian Blog Hop - May/June Catalog

We are so glad to have you join us today for the Canadian Blog Hop. Today we are featuring the new products that you can find in the the May/June Catalog. You can view this catalog here.

This is a circular hop so you can make your way around. You should have arrived here from Colleen's Blog. If you get lost along the way or would like to start at the beginning you can find the list on Michelle's Blog.

I decided to create with the new Glad You're a Grad stamp set as I needed to create grad cards for the graduates from our church.

We have 4 grads this year from 2 high schools.  So, I decided to create cards using the school colours.
I finished the cards for the 1 school and here they are.

I distress ripped the strips of Sapphire & Canary cardstock using my embossing stylus & paper trimmer track.  I did a video today showing how to do this HERE.  This was a technique that I learned at album retreat  (there are still a few album retreat bundles available) this past week and it is such a fun way to add texture to a layout or card.

I stamped the graduates with Intense Black ink on White Daisy cardstock and matted it with Black.  I coloured the images with Bluebird & Sapphire shimmer brush, Citrus, Fair Skin, Ice Grey & True Black markers.  I embellished this card with the clear sparkles.

I also added some Onyx Pearls & Diamond Stickles.  I love the look of the doodled line added with the journaling pen.  Sentiments stamped in Sapphire ink.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and I would love to hear what you think of them.

Next up on the Blog Hop is Sabrina's Blog, so head on over and check out what she has created.

Thanks for joining us today and I hope you can join us again on July 20th for the next Canadian Blog Hop.

If you don't have a Maker, I would be more than happy to help you with all your scrappy needs.
Blessings, Kim

National Scrapbooking Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our National Scrapbooking Month Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the special products in the National Scrapbooking Month: You Are Enough Collection.  These products are available only until the end of June and while supplies last.  If you are looking for a deal check out the bundles as they are 20-30% off.

If you arrived here from Michelle's Blog, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda's Blog has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

There are about 14 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using this National Scrapbooking Month: You are Enough collection and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

I decided to create another layout using photos of my daughter that I took over 11 years ago when she was a baby.  I posed her with flowers from a bouquet that I got at her baby shower.  This collection was perfect for documenting this.

I just grabbed a bunch of scraps out of my pile from some other workshops that I have been working on using this paper collection.  The only thing I needed to cut today was the strips of paper for the words and die cut the butterflies.  I loved being able to just layer some scraps behind the photo - this is a great way to use up some of your bits of leftover paper.

I know it is hard to see but I added splatter to the white paper with shimmer brushes, looks better in person.  I used the Blue Belle shimmer brush along the edges of the strips with the words and they are popped up on thin foam tape.  I love all the different butterfly elements available in this collection.  I would love to know which butterfly element is your favorite?

This is such a powerful message and I want my daughter to always remember it.

This whole collection has this theme - You are Enough.  It is a message that we all need to take to heart and remember.

I am especially reminded of it as my community is being hit harder with the pandemic than it has up to this point.  Our schools all switched to remote learning today and we are all wrapping our heads around that again.  We have been very fortunate to have had low case counts to this point and all linked to travel outside of the territory up to the current situation.  I need to remember that I am strong.

Here is the whole You Are Enough Collection.

Supplies Used:

- White Daisy cardstock
- Peach ink
- Sangria ink
- Blue Belle shimmer brush
- Mint shimmer brush
- Gold shimmer brush
- Sugarplum shimmer brush (retired)

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I would love to hear what you think of it.

Now "Hop" on over to Gina's Blog to see what she has created! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas!  Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the May SOTM, called Flowers for You it is a set of 14 stamps.

If you arrived here from Becca's Blog, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda's Blog has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

This month we have around 17 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

It is National Scrapbooking Day today and so while I am listening to Jill cut paper on the CTMH Facebook page I created this layout using the SOTM.  I am in love with this set.

I used a combination of the new Hillside Cottage paper and the new Mix-In collection of paper.  I also used White Daisy and Flamingo cardstock.

I stamped using VersaMark ink and the gold embossing powder.  I added the you inspire me stamp into my journaling using Archival Black ink.  This is a fun thing to do.

I added a little stenciling with the Abandoned Coral distress ink.  I also used this ink on the larger photo mat.  The white photo mat is using the Floral Lace embossing folder.

These are the layered butterflies and I have added the same ink to them in a variety of ways as well as the gold shimmer brush to the white one.  I absolutely love these thin cuts.

The flower is created with the 3-D flower thin cuts, I used the smallest 2 and added the bold bitty beads to the middle.

I hope you enjoyed this layout and I would love to hear what you think of it.

Now "Hop" on over to Melissa's Blog to see what she has created! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! "Dazzling Dimension" CTMH Technique Blog Hop

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!
This month there are about 12 of us highlighting the “Dazzling Dimension” Techniques!  This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you get lost along the way Melissa has a complete list of the hop participants.

If you are coming from Katy's Blog, you are on the right track!

Today, is the 3rd day that the temperature has been above 0C and it is melting like crazy outside.  Spring has finally started to happen up here in the Northwest Territories of  Canada.

I decided I wanted to create a layout using Pattern 1 of the new Vol. 5 Make it from Your Heart how do book.  This pattern has paper weaving which is a fun way to add dimension.  I went into my old photos to find a photo to use and found this fantastic photo of me from 20 years ago.  I can remember that spring day and some of the emotions I was feeling.  Remember, it is never too late to tell your story.

I tried to create dimension in a variety of ways.  I love the paper weaving and the off set photo mats.

I love the dimension water colouring the flowers with the ink pads, adding clear shimmer brush and Diamond stickles adds to them.  For added dimension I popped them up with foam tape.

Doing the part of the title popped up on foam tape with the edges inked is another way to add dimension to a project.  I also blended some Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink behind the title.

Using an embossing folder, inking the edges of photo mats, layering photo mats and using foam tape are other ways to add dimension.

Stamping along the outside of a photo mat.

Supplies Used:
- Cherry Blossoms stamp set
- Peacock Cardstock
- Smoothie Cardstock
Peach Cardstock
- Almond Cardstock
Smoothie ink
- Peacock ink
- Espresso ink
Diamond Stickles
The Stamptacular sale is happening until the end of April.

Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto Maz's Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!  If are in Canada and don't have a Maker, I would love to help you.

April SOTM Blog Hop - Scandinavian Folk Art Greetings

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! I hope you will hop along with us and check out all of the amazing artwork created using the April SOTM, called Scandinavian Folk Art Greetings it is a set of 17 stamps.

If you arrived here from Gina's Blog, then you are in the right spot.  The blog hop is a big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.  If you get lost along the way, Melinda's Blog has a complete list of all the participating consultants.

This month we have around 12 Close To My Heart Makers/Consultants sharing their creations using this month's SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs.

So, I wasn't a huge fan of this set when I got it and I challenged myself to create art with it that would make me and people like me fall  in love with it.  I think this is the most art I have ever created for a SOTM blog hop and I have lots more ideas.  My original thought was to do some masking of the flowers growing out of the tops of everything but I didn't end up doing that.  I am very happy with the 4 cards I created using this set and the variety of ways I used it.

So, the first 2 cards are based off Pattern 17 of  Vol. 4 of the Make it From your Heart book and were inspired by a card Shannon Smoldt created using the March SOTM.  When I saw her card it was like a light bulb went off in my head and I was like here is a way I can use this set that I like.  These were the first things I created using this set and I plan to create some layouts using the boot image this way to create base pages for some Cowboy photos of my son.

The base layer was sanded and then stamped on and again sanded.  I used Fern & Sapphire cardstock & ink for them as well as Black Archival ink and the Floral Lace embossing folder.  There is lots of sanding on these cards.  LOL.

Then the next 2 cards I combined the Kitchen Gnomes set with the SOTM and used 1/2" strips of paper.  This a great way to use up paper scraps and I learned how to create this background from Sara Baktin.  I did a video yesterday showing how to create this background. You can view it HERE.

I used a few of the SOTM stamps to do tone-on-tone stamping on the Sage & Peach strips.  The colouring was done with the Tri-Blend markers and shimmer brushes.  I added some Liquid Glass, Liquid Pearls and Stickles to add some dimension & interest.

Products Used:
- Kitchen Gnomes stamp & thin cuts set
- Sapphire Cardstock
- Fern Cardstock
- Sage Cardstock
- Desert Rose Cardstock
- Peach Cardstock
- Pewter Cardstock
- Sapphire ink
- Fern ink
- Peach ink
- Sage ink
- Diamond Stickles
- Silver Stickles
- Blue Belle shimmer brush
- Red shimmer brush
- Bisque Liquid Pearls
- Fair Skin marker
- Dark Red marker
- True Black marker
- Ice Grey marker
- Earth Brown marker
- sanding block

The Stamptacular Sale is also happening this month and you can save up to 50% on stamp & thin cut sets and save up to 35% on stamp sets.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and I would love to hear what you think of them.

Now "Hop" on over to Miss Carrie's Blog to see what she has created! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the April SOTM is only available until the 30th!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount!  If you are in Canada and don't have a consultant I would be happy to help you.
